Stuttering is a fluency disorder that affects approximately 1% of adults and manifests itself through blockages, repetitions, and/or prolongations of sounds due to a loss of control of the speech muscles. This disorder is accompanied by involuntary movements such as blinking or facial tension. Its treatment relies on speech therapy, but assessing disfluencies is complex and time-consuming. Tools based on artificial intelligence attempt to automate the detection of speech accidents related to stuttering by analyzing the audio signal. However, these models face limitations, particularly due to the lack of annotated data and the high variability of stuttering between individuals. To improve accuracy, our project proposes to also use video images to detect visual cues associated with disfluencies. The combined analysis of sound and video could help refine diagnosis and help healthcare professionals better manage stuttering. Project leader: Ivana Didirkova

This manual, supported by the UMR Praxiling, presents in an accessible and synthetic manner the main methodological tools of discourse analysis and shows how to implement them on a wide range of texts: press articles, television interviews, letters from soldiers, comedy sketches, fables, tweets and SMS, etc.). Written by specialists from different fields of language sciences (interaction, stylistics, phonetics, argumentation, automatic processing, etc.), it offers an overview of the discipline as it is practiced today in its great diversity, and finds its originality in its organization around innovative entries and in the effort to apply notions and tools to the diversity of written and oral discourses.
The JPC are biennial conferences of international scope. They are renowned and considered major events in the fields of voice, language and speech, whether in medical, developmental or social terms. The main aim of these multidisciplinary days is to bring together and encourage exchanges between researchers, clinicians, phoneticians and any other professionals interested in the mechanisms of speech production and perception. The JPC welcomes experts, young researchers and students from the clinical (medicine, speech therapy, audiology), psychological and language science fields. They deal with everything to do with language and voice in children and adults, whether healthy or suffering from a pathology. These aspects are approached from a variety of viewpoints, enabling us to share knowledge and open up new avenues for reflection, research and collaboration.
